I'm just sort of experimenting and I'm sure I'll figure out what builds I like and such in time, M&B:WB seems like the type of game that might have nonobvious interactions or pitfalls, or UI tricks that one only finds out about from having someone else point 'em out to you. Any tech support advice on that issue definitely appreciated.Īny general gameplay advice in general is welcome, of course.
I've come to the conclusion I am probably doing something wrong in tournaments, so any advice is welcome.Īlso, the game tends to freeze up during tournaments for some reason - the action will freeze for about 10 seconds with sound, then about 5 seconds without sound, and then resume - which makes it a much greater exercise in frustration, especially because it doesn't tend to freeze elsewhere.
The short length of the Double Sided Lance decreases the chance of being chamber blocked by shorter weapons when. Surprisingly, despite its small size, it is also the third heaviest lance available. This makes it the only lance that is practical to use on foot.
This actually makes dismounted fighters even harder to deal with, since they don't get stuck on walls, and the difference in speed still isn't enough to make it easy to charge them. The Double Sided Lance is the shortest and fastest lance in the game and the only couchable weapon that can be swung from side to side. Dodging them isn't too hard, it is just the keeping it from being ten minutes of chasing each other in circles that is frustrating - usually what ends it is we both end up running into a wall, and the AI seems to have a harder time clearing themselves away from the walls than me. I tend to get in this thing where I'll go round and round in circles on my horse, with the other guy behind me, trying to somehow make up enough distance that I have room to turn, charge, and build up enough speed to get the couched lance going, and have the right angle to actually be able to stick the other guy. They're sort of a royal pain, even on the 1/4 damage ultra-easy default settings. Battles feel like largely a matter of chance to me though - I just sort of randomly ride around clicking on the mouse as I get near the enemy, hoping I kill enough to make a difference. (As a Sword out and cocked back does now.)Īdded thought, I think there should be a Str req too.So, I've only really started with Mount & Blade, but it does look pretty awesome. It certainly would be nice to know the Mounted Knight charging at you is about to stuff a stick up your ass. Otherwise, you need to hold it straight up. And would it be too much to ask for a visual effect for this!? Hell for all equipment that gets destroyed in combat!Īlso, the Stam usage when in prep mode seems like a good start. High Dur/Low Damage made for Dismounting and Low Dur/High Damage that shatter after a few hits. I do like the idea of two separate types. It should be a skill more dedicated to Mounted Combat, not specific weapons. I understand the thought process to have Spears be part of the build but I think it would be unfair to force people to use spears just to have Mounted Lances/Jousts. Not just give the person an addition advantage to their current build. Also, Jousting or Lancing should be good enough to want to spend the points on it. Only because if you are going to make someone that much more potent while mounted, they should have to give up something. Click to expand.I agree with this however, I would expect it to be a PRI.
